To enhance the efficiency and cost effectiveness, the four professional groups under Specialized Section in Management and Design (SSMD), including Professional Group in Engineering and Society (ESPG), Professional Group in Management Education and Training (METPG), Professional Group in Business Management (BMPG) and Professional Group in Quality Systems and Management (PGQSM), have been restructured and all the key members of the PGs are joined SSMD since 2003.

In October 2004, SSMD has been renamed as Management Section Committee (MSC), and those members from SSMD are transferred to MSC as well.
